Stop Asian Hate!

An attack on One is an attack on ALL!

Shootings at two massage parlors in Atlanta and one in the suburbs Tuesday evening left eight people dead, many of them women of Asian descent, authorities said. A 21-year-old man suspected in the shootings was taken into custody in southwest Georgia hours later after a manhunt, police said.

Asian is not a virus, racism is!

In other words, a white supremacist murdered eight Asian Americans and the media makes it seem like they were just massage parlor sex workers rather than human beings with families and loved ones and hopes and dreams that were brutally cut short.

Supremacists must know our hearts go out to all who lost loved ones tonight. White supremacy is lethal and has implications for all of us. The xenophobic attacks against our Asian family must stop and we will take action against these racial acts.

By the way, what we should know is that anti-Asian violence has surged in the US since COVID-19. But it didn’t start there. The first Asian immigrants who arrived in the U.S. were met with “discrimination and violence” right away.

Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, there has been a rise of anti-Asian hate incidents that have led to fewer customers for Asian-run businesses and a surge in violence as well. But this is just another chapter in a long timeline of anti-Asian bigotry that spans centuries of U.S. history.

To conclude, let me repeat what I said in my last story:

What we must do is to take action against these racial acts. Remember what Martin Luther King said: “Our lives begin to end the day we remain silent about the things that matter.” So let’s fight to achieve our rights.
